I am happy to say I discovered what seems like a fantastic competitor up in Portland, Oregon called Doggy Duty
that is run by owners Amanda Shallcross & Noel Thomas. They have
two sized boxes, but also custom make boxes for their customers. They
do use wood (which can retain the odor from urine) - however their
website says it is a specialized wood called "Ipe" and doesn't retain
moisture. I also like that the bottom of the box is plastic (for
cleaning). They are the first competitor I've come across who are
obvious dog lovers and ethical enough to suggest their customers clean
their boxes out weekly (they offer weekly sod service & cleaning up
in the Portland area).
Honestly, I wish there were more
companies like this one . . . there is certainly an abundance of
business to be had in the dog market and it is a shame that so few are
really offering something that is safe and sanitary for customer
doggies. If there are any other companies that pop us like this, I will
be more than happy to list them on our website.
